At A Passion for Care, we’re dedicated to supporting San Diego County’s aging community through a variety of initiatives year-round. Some of our favorite efforts include participation in the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego’s annual Empowerment Day, as well as walks for Parkinson’s Disease, ALS, Alzheimer’s, and Dementia. Additionally, we proudly sponsor aging well-being causes in collaboration with community organizations and regularly present workshops on senior-related topics to promote healthy aging. Below, we’ve highlighted some of our recent activities and contributions.
Partnering with San Diego Oasis
San Diego Oasis (https://san-diego.oasisnet.org/) provides programs promoting healthy longevity and intergenerational literacy, serving older adults and at-risk children in some of San Diego’s neediest public schools.
Most recently, A Passion for Care sponsored the January Taste of Oasis event held at the San Diego Oasis in Rancho Bernardo. This quarterly event coincides with the release of class schedule catalogs in January, April, and August. The day was packed with free wellness demonstrations, instructor presentations, delicious refreshments, and plenty of opportunities to socialize with fellow members. A fan-favorite feature was the exciting drawings for Oasis gift cards that rounded out the day.
Silver Sponsorship Highlights
In November, we served as a Silver Sponsor for the 2024 Black & Bold Gala, as mentioned in our previous newsletter.
In December, we continued our support for the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego as a Silver Sponsor of their 2024 Empowerment Day at Four Points by Sheraton San Diego. This marked our third consecutive year of sponsorship for this impactful event.
Empowerment Day featured an impressive lineup of Parkinson’s Disease experts speaking on topics ranging from new research and treatments to exercise and alternative therapies. Dozens of vendors were also on hand to showcase products and services tailored to Parkinson’s needs. Educational Outreach at Ocean Hills Country Club
In January, Pat joined a panel at the Ocean Hills Country Club, a vibrant independent senior community of approximately 2,500 residents in Oceanside. The panel addressed key topics relevant to seniors, including caregiving, assisted living, and end-of-life planning. Pat’s presentation focused on caregiving options, providing valuable insights for the audience.
