Serendipity struck on a flight to Lisbon earlier this month when I learned that a Longevity MED Summit was being held in Lisbon while I was scheduled to be there. A big thank you to Jacqueline Rennard and Jorge Lima for making a last-minute invitation and registration accommodation so I could attend Day 3.
It was a very well spent day!
It its 4th year, the Longevity MED Summit is a gathering of global leaders in health span, biotech, and wellness innovation. The event brought together leading voices from medicine, biotech, wellness, architecture, and investment—each focused on extending not just lifespan, but health span.
The presentations and conversations were rich: from NAD+ therapies and regenerative medicine to swimmable cities and AI-powered diagnostics, the summit offered a compelling vision of how our understanding of aging is evolving.
Across the three-day summit, the message was clear: the future of healthcare lies in proactive, personalized, and integrative approaches to aging.
Day 1 explored the built environment’s role in health, with architects and wellness visionaries like Jean-François Garneau and Anna Bjurstam showcasing how real estate can support longer, healthier living. One provocative session advocated for “swimmable cities,” highlighting the powerful link between public design and public health.
On Day 2, conversations shifted to diagnostics and AI. Dr. Robert Hariri emphasized stem cell therapeutics, while other speakers introduced breakthrough ideas—like using breath analysis to detect disease and AI to tailor care plans. The investment panel offered a glimpse into where capital is flowing in longevity: startups innovating across nutrition, neurodegeneration, and regenerative therapies.
But Day 3 stood out. This final day centered on NAD+ therapy, fasting, women’s health, and regenerative nutrition. Dr. Elizabeth Yurth’s insights into mitochondrial health and aging biology were particularly impactful.
Dr. Miguel Stanley, founder of Lisbon’s renowned White Clinic delivered a talk on the vital relationship between oral health and longevity and shared how he has built a leading practice leveraging the latest global technologies and best practices. His talk connected oral health with systemic well-being and aging—emphasizing dentistry’s often-overlooked role in the longevity equation. It reinforced a theme echoed throughout the conference: health is never siloed. True longevity requires holistic, cross-disciplinary innovation is key with each focused on extending not just lifespan, but health span.
