Mental Health Awareness

In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, A Passion for Care celebrates being dedicated to understanding and supporting our clients with mental illness.

APfC recently sent two employees to a Mental Health First Aid Certification class to ensure that we have up-to-date information about how to best care for people living with mental challenges. We know that mental health challenges can cause family members to worry and stress out – leading to burn-out. A Passion for Care can offer support and direct the family members of our clients to several resources that can help in their journey.

The Mental Health First Aid Training Program is an 8-hour certification course designed to give participants the tools to respond to psychiatric emergencies until professional help arrives. The course also serves to improve mental health literacy. MHASD (Mental Health Association of San Diego) brings together clients, families, professionals, providers, community leaders, and the public to collaborate, cooperate, and ensure available affordable care to all citizens.
